I want this crappy software off my hard drive.
Usually the best way of asking things is being polite.
BUT, there does not appear to be an uninstaller included.
Well. It is.
Seens like you are using Microsoft Windows. Then you should know that programs should be unistalled from the control panel->Add/Remove Programs. If you don't like it, please tell Microsoft.
As Openoffice developers are kind folks they also have included an option to unistall openoffice in the setup program. You can also run it (the setup) an select unistall.
But please, check that the quickstart (the small blue and white icon in you tray, sorry next to the clock) is closed. You'll need to right-click on it and select close. If the quickstart is not closed openoffice will not be able to unistall itself.
Since throwing visible files in the trash will not necessarily remove those not visible, I need to know how to remove OpenOffice entirely.
If you trash the entire folder you will delete all files including hidden ones. But this is not the way to correctly unistall a program. Usually programs drop files outside their folder. They use to add DLL files to the windows dir, store user settings in user dirs and add content to the register.
So yes, you should not unistall a program by deleting it's folder. But no, it has nothing to do with hidden files.
I also do not understand why it so difficult to get this information.
Well, seens like it was no so difficult, wasn't it.
Do the developers believe that not allowing users to change their minds will endear them to us?
No. As you see the developers has allowed users to unistall openoffice in two ways. The standard windows one (using the control panel), and another additional one. Again you are beign quite rude.
Sincerely,
J.G.
Please, if this helps you, write us a mail saying that it did and maybe some kind of thanks.
If it doesn't work write us again. Please try to give us all the information that you can. Tell us what operating system are you using, what version of openoffice and a detailed description of what you are doing, and what didn't work,
Anyway, thank you for trying openoffice.
Javier.
