How do you set up a document with a header and footer on the first page and only the footer on subsequent pages?
Sally, you need to define and use a "first page" style. You can use the "default" page style for subsequent pages. There are several ways to do this. The easiest is:
1) On the Status bar at the bottom of the screen, the second item from the left should show "Default" -- this is the page style. With the first page of your document displayed, right-click on this box and choose "First page" from the pop-up list.
2) On the menu bar at the top of the screen, click Insert > Header > First Page, then click Insert > Footer > First Page. You should now have a header and footer on the first page of your document.
3) Go to the second page of the document. Look in the Status bar at the bottom of the screen. It should say "Default" in the page style box. On the menu bar, click Insert > Footer > Default.
When your document grows to 3 or more pages, all of the pages except the first should be in the "Default" page style.
Note: it's possible to define the First Page style to be followed by some other page style, and to make the layout of the first page be quite different from the layout of the other pages. To make these and other changes to the page styles, press F11 to open the Stylist, click the Page Style icon (4th from left), then right-click on any page style and choose Modify. You'll see a window with several tabs, in which you can make a lot of changes.
Hope this helps. Regards, Jean Jean Hollis Weber
