Still, there seems to be no bad news coming from the NeoOffice/J front as far as 10.4 is concerned and reading the Tiger related posts on the OOo lists it looks like it is safe to use it. Both the X11 official OOo for OSX and NeoOffice/J seem to work.

OOo runs under the X11 windowing system which is an optional install under OS 10.4. An alternative that is more Mac like is NeoOffice/J which is a port to the Mac using the Quartz windowing system and Java among other things to give a more Mac like user experience.
