Hi Manali,
This is to be expected. OpenOffice saves its files in compressed form. They are essentially a zip file containing several files: content, styles, layout, settings etc. I have seen a utility mentioned that will search these files for content. Possibly, someone else on the list will be able to point you to it.

However if I convert the same file to a pdf document the find file / folder option is able to search this pdf file. But it still does not search the open office file.
