Version 1.1.4 of OOo will not open password protected MS Office
files. When version 2.0 of OOo comes out in the next few months, it
will have this ability.
A beta version of 2.0 is now available. However, a very serious
warning: before using the beta version to open password protected MS
Office files,
1) Make a copy of these password protected files, and place the copies
in a seperate folder all by themselves.
2) Use the beta version to open these files, and use the "Save as"
function to convert them to *.sxw (*.doc files), *.sxc (*.xls files),
etc.
3) Move the converted files back to where you have the original MS
Office files.
4) If you want these files password protected, open the converted files
with 1.1.4 and again use the "Save as" function to save them with the
password of your choice.
Another warning: Keep your passwords in a safe place. If you loose
one, the file that needs it will be almost impossible to open. (The
encryption is that good.)
