Only replying to part of your question:
- make a spreadsheet;
- select and copy the part you need;
- paste it in a Writer-document - it becomes an object by default;
- double-klicking makes it a fully functional spreadsheet;
- you can also select the whole frame (incl. paragraph that holds the anchor) and make an autotext block of it (Ctrl-F3)
