The file you need is OOo_1.1.4_Win32Intel_install.zip. go to
http://download.openoffice.org/1.1.4/index.html. Select your language
(I assume English), your operating system (Windows), and your download
site. (If you live in the USA, and of the USA sites will have this
program.)
On the right side of that page near the bottom is a section: Other
Resources. Md5Sums is in that section. Use the link for Md5Sums to get
the information you will need to use it as well to download md5sum.exe.
After you have downloaded the file, run md5sum.exe to make sure the
file is a good one. (Sometimes files get corrupted during the
downloading process.)
Next, use Unzip to extract the files contained in your downloaded
file. Make sure you write down the folder's name where you have
extracted these files. Using Windows Explorer, enter this folder.
setup_guide.pdf is one of these files. Read it carefully and follow its
directions for installing OpenOffice.org (OOo) onto your system.
The setup guide is in PDF format, which means you will need to have
Acrobat Reader on your computer before you can read it. If you do not
already have it, download and install it.
Sounds like a lot to do, but all these steps will make the
installation of (OOo) much easier and with fewer problems.
