For now, take a quick look at my free macro document... There is a small blurb in section 7.22 Text Tables. Remember, this free document is primarily a brain dump and examples. My book is more coherent.... No time to solve the problems specifically at hand right now.

Although 5.18 Saving And Exporting A Document does not exactly solve your problem, it will probably point you in the right direction. You say that you want to use the same name. I assume that you do want to change the file extension, yes? I took a quick look in my book, and it looks like the filter name is "Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP". My book has better coverage on this than my free document...

Does this get you started? I hope so, I leave town shortly... You can also ask on the dev list and the oooforum (they have a macro section).

I just realised that in the sequence of steps I described in my original message, i.e.

1. Select All (OK)
2. Set font (OK)
3. Set language (not OK)
4. Convert tab-delimited text to 3-column table (OK)
5. Set column width to specific values, e.g. 3cm, 7.5cm, 7.5cm (not OK)
6. Set view to Web Layout (OK)
7. Save as Word97/2000/XP, using the same file name as the txt file (not OK)

I don't actually need step 7 :-)

I have come to the conclusion that it would be easier and indeed better to use another macro to re-convert my table to tab-delimited text, which would be absolutely fine for my purposes.

So, this just leaves

a) setting the language for individual table columns (hopefully/possibly to be resolved via 'enumerations')

b) setting the table column widths - hopefully to be resolved once I have studied section 7.22 of the macro document, or I might even splash out on the book :-)
