In another message thread it was asked if you can open Office 2007
files in Open Office, and the reply was that you simply had to
change the extensions from ###x to ###, where ### = the three letter
extensions for Office 2003 files and Open Office files. That is NOT
true. In order to convert Office 2007 files to work in Open Office,
you need to convert them within Office 2007 to Office 2003 format -
I got an e-mail attachment over the weekend, created by MS-Office
2007 in docx format, and it jut opened in OOo without any problems.
The document was simple, but it opened nevertheless. Was there not a
parch with support for docx format in OOo some months ago?
I think that depends on which version (Linux distro etc), so in
general, it's best to say it's not supported.
I have OpenSUSE 10.3 with updates to OOo 2.3.0.1.5
Thought so. Novell's version of OO has support for those files.
However, as I mentioned in another note, it's best to simply say
unsupported at this time as the original, from www.openoffice.org does
not work with them.
