True, but the R lists have folks who have done this before (myself included) on various platforms and have a breadth of experience with the nuances. For presentations, in lieu of using Impress or similar, I use the Beamer package (http://latex-beamer.sourceforge.net/) as the template. You can create PDF's and then use the full screen mode of most popular PDF viewers when in front of an audience. I would run out and buy one if he did. I was watching a live blog of the presentation over on Gizmodo.
