That depends on how you're downloading.  If you have a dial up modem,
then yes it will take several hours.  Do you have broadband access
somewhere else, such as work, friend or library?  If so, you can
download it there and copy to a USB drive or CD, to bring home.  Failing
that, you can buy a copy of OpenOffice from vendors, who will sell it
for a nominal cost.  You may also be able to find a disk, containing
OpenOffice, included with some magazines.

We cannot vouch for any vendor.  Make sure you get the latest version of
OpenOffice, currently 3.0.
