Hello
Will there be a PPC version of OO.o3 Aqua?
Cheers
Geoff
Hello Geoff,
Only six language groups have until now found enough people to QA
test the
PPC version, and English isn't among them.
You can either wait till 3.0 passes the test, or volunteer to do some
testing yourself, or use the RC4, the last test release before 3.0 was
officially released.
This RC4 is identical AFAIK to the final release, but it hasn't been
tested
for PPC.
You can donwload this RC4 from GoodDay. The US_English version had
no _en
part in its name, it's half way down the list
http://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/MacOSX/3.0.0rc4/
this is the US_en version, there's also a GB_en
OOo_3.0.0rc4_MacOSXPowerPC_install.dmg
OOo_3.0.0rc4_MacOSXPowerPC_install_en-GB.dmg
I use the RC4 myself, without any significant problems till now.

Dodoes can't afford to have headaches
I have been using the RC4 version with no problems encountered so far.
I got bit at
work with Apple's last system upgrade that broke the 2.4 version of
OOo on my E-Mac.
So I had to go to the 3.0 RC4 as I need OOo to function at work.
The only downsides that I have noticed is a few things are slow, but
OOo was not a speed
demon with the earlier versions for the same things either. On the
other hand loading is
faster since you don't have to wait for the time out loading as in 2.x
and X-11.
