This is the default behaviour for most windows programs that I use and
it would be a welcome change in OOo. It can sometimes be annoying, so
having the ability to turn the feature on and off would be nice. Being
able to specify the default save location when the program is not using
the 'last used' location would be even better.

I haven't bothered with OOo 3.? since I currently don't have the time
nor the inclination to debug things. No fault of anyones but mine.
Linux Slackware, 10.2; OOo 2.0.something Swriter
Tools>Options>OpenOffice.org>paths>My Documents
set the path to where you want the next group of files to go.
Set it back or wherever you wish when done as it will remain set until
changed. Even between machine reboots.
Takes 10 seconds or less to change the default location.
