Have you looked at the getting started guides?

If you are asking for suggestions for the Help files, I have a few ideas:
1. Make the help more instructive, less definitional. It is no help
at all to me to go looking for help with a function and find only what
that function accomplishes. When, for example, I want to import data
into a database, it doesn't help to tell me that this database and
that databae (category) are not the same thing. Which is what? and
how does that difference impact me and my needs?
2. Have a section for OOO novices like me, that gives precise steps
for important procedures, e.g. setting up a database. It is not
enough to point to wizards that leave the user stranded with nowhere
to go.
3. Provide a troubleshooting page for each facet of OOO. Index
trouble areas within Writer, Base, etc. separately. You must know
what they are. Explain what it means when something stops dead but
isn't dead, when you know something is wrong but can't figure out what.
4. Think of making the help more user-friendly for your friendly
users. I find a lot of unnecessary redundancies that are not helpful.
Other times, the help itself is too complex.
5. Provide a glossary for the acronyms you use
6. Refine the index
That's all for the moment. Don't forget to vote!

This is so stupid.
I have created a frame. I see a paragraph mark inside the frame
(hidden
characters is turned on). But for the life of me I cannot get the
cursor inside the frame so I can type some text into it.
I can't find the answer in the Help file. What is the secret?
may be this helps with the different types of text boxes in Writer:

To improve the Help: how would you search for Help on this topic? What
index entries would you like to look up? We will happily insert them for
the next 3.1 Help.

If you are asking one and all for some improvement on the HELP tab I
have two major requests.
First: Include a thesaurus which has your term followed by those words
in Webster's (meaning the considered definitive dictionary of language
in use since I doubt the Egyptians call theirs Webster's) that mean the
same thing. Then one can search for common term and hopefully find
whatever you are currently calling it and maybe then find something
relevant to problem at hand.
Second: Those HTML files that are basically one paragraph per file are
totally useless in a global search. Once a month, combine the entire
help into one html (that is NOT a Microsoft proprietary file) and/or pdf
to allow search to be useful. And make it/them downloadable. The PDF
has far fewer display problems across playback programs and usually
takes less disk space.
I suppose I should request that all in favor respond with "AYE"
and those that aren't respond with "NAY". Absentees to be considered as
not having read this. :)
With a big smile and eyes twinkling he gives a slight wink and states:
"You did ask."
