I am used to write text by Microsoft Office (MO). Recently, I was suggested to use OpenOffice (OO). I downloaded it, but after that, all the icons of MO files disappeared and were changed in anonymous icons by my Apple OS X 10.4. Furthermore, my email software (Eudora) stop recognizing MO attached files as MO files but it changed them into unknown files (although they were MO files), although I didn't change settings as to use OO as default software to open attached files. Moreover, any change in email settings to set a different default software was completely ineffective.

Is there any extension or preferences automatically installed after OO software download that changed all the setting in my own computer?

If not, what is the problem? Is there any incompatibility between MO and OO, so that I must remove MO software?

If I had to choose between MO and OO as office software, how could I remove OO, in case? Is there any uninstaller available (no uninstaller was included in the pack downloaded from web)?

Please let me know soon
