I agree with that.
And the issue type of issue 90815 isn't a defect (bug) -
it's an enhancement.   ;-)

I think that it is first and foremost a question of private motives
and personal preferences -  also aesthetic and psychological factors
are playing a role.

Anyway - the 'start center' is a great improvement for OOo-beginners.
