Hmm, I didn't know that.  Since you included PageMaker, was this 
experience all on one machine or type of machine?  My experience with 
PageMaker (way back "when" though) was different than yours.  They were 
instruction manuals with a lot of large line drawings (a lot fewer, but 
also grayscales) and we never had that problem.  Other than their reader 
I've no experience at all with Acrobat though.

That doesn't bode well for OO.o making progress on it then, does it?  I 
wonder how well Word handles its PDF creation?  Anyone know?
