[users] Openoffice v3 keeps crashing

I have downloaded OO3 several times within the last few days, and  
when trying it out have had it crash with "an unexpected error  
occurred". I use an iMac operating under Tiger 10.4.11. I also have  
Neooffice installed and it seems that Neoffice and OO  share several  
files. Prior to downloading OO3 I used OO2.4(with X11 tiger). OO2.4  
and Neoffice were compatible and opened the same data files without  
any problems.

Can anyone point me towards a solution to OO3 crashing?
