The Format|Object items will indeed be greyed out unless of course your actually have an 'object' in the document that has been selected for formatting. Objects generally are classified as: - OLE Objects - Plug-ins - Sound - Video - Formula - Chart You can easily test by opening Writer, then the Gallery (Tools|Gallery), scrolling down to 'Sounds' and drag a sound file to the document. Now have an 'object' in you document. Now single click the object (black square with a speaker symbol in it) and try Format|Object. You will now see that you have formatting options enabled for that 'object'. Another hint: to reselect the object after you have moved of of it, just press and hold down the Ctrl key while selecting the object with your mouse (click). You can find clip art (albeit somewhat limited) also in Gallery. (Note: to close the Gallery window, just use Tools|Gallery again). Additional clipart can be obtained from the extensions site: http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/ and documentation site: http://documentation.openoffice.org/ http://documentation.openoffice.org/Samples_Templates/index.html I recommned that you explore the OpenOffice.org (OOo) getting started documentation: http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/userguide3/index.html -- Note: You have been cc'd on this reply as you have posted to an open OOo mailing list.
