I use OO.o 3.0.0 with XP, 1.8 GHz Sempron, 1GB RAM.

This morning I noticed that all words are marked by OO.o as being
misspelled (with the red ~~~~ underlining.) Right clicking causes the
spelling checker dialog to open, but no suggestions are made.

As best I recall this is behavior is new. Can someone please shed some
light on this?

Hello,

• What is the language of the text (see status bar, or Format > Character >
Font type > Language)
• Do you have the dictionary (extension) installed for this language (see
whether in Format > Character > Font type > Language the language used in
the text has the Vabc mark next to it)
Normally OOo comes with the most used language dictionaries already
installed. You can get more dictionaries (since OOo 2.4 to be installed as
extension) from the OOo website
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/dictionary
Double click on the downloaded extension (oxt), or go to the extension
manager Tools > Extension manager.

First, thanks for you reply. I am quite concerned about this, and had to tell myself someone would reply soon.

I emphasize that this is a very recent change in behavior. I installed 3.0.0 early, directly from the web site. I used the default installation. I installed the US English dictionary from the installation package. I checked that t he language of the selection is US English. To my knowledge I installed no extensions, as the installation did not call for it.

I emphasize that this installation has worked flawlessly previously.

If you need more information, or if it is evident that I have misunderstood any questions you ask, please let me know.
