Fred, all files created in the native OOo format are a zip archive.
The files you found are your dBase files. They can be copied to a Linux
system without any problems. On a dual boot laptop, I kept some of my
databases in the Windows 98SE partition and regularly accessed them
with both the Win 98SE and Linux versions of OOo.
How OOo handles these files depends upon what version of OOo you
have. If you are using OOo 1.1.4, you need to create a form to work
with each one of your database tables. Forms are created through the
use of a AutoPilot which requires JRE (Java Runtime Environment) be
installed first. If you are using one of the OOo 2.0 betas, you still
should create a form for each one of your tables, but this can be done
within the database itself. This also requires JRE.
I have a feeling you are going to need additional information, but
we need to know what OS you are using first.
