No, I wasn't asked for my e-mail address. They already had it. TS

Thanks to Richard & Harold & others for great patience. I've now done
everything you've advised & my fingers are crossed that all is now well. One
last question. A result of installing OO3 is that I've had 2 e-mails
inviting me to install 'OpenOffice2009'. Isn't that included in 3? Should I
just ignore the e-mails? TS

Apparently it's a scam.

From ooforums.org:

Yesterday, I received an email offering Open Office
Suite 2009; I followed the link and found that this
program, unlike other OO programs, was available at a
charge of about $20.00 US. I paid for the program but
have since then not been able to download it; when I try
to access the sites given, the page cannot be loaded.
               What is happening/

What's happening is you've been had...

There've been a few warnings about the "Open Office
2009" scam on some security and general user forums.
From the warnings I've seen it looks like a combination
of financial fraud and e-mail harvesting (you were asked
for your email address, right?). I haven't seen the
actual "offer", though, so I can't say for sure.
