I have been told that in order to paste a spreadsheet with column width included it is necessary to first paste it with format selected and then paste in the rest. I have never been able to get that to work, either with excel or calc. Anybody know the trick?
In Calc, column widths carry over by default if you paste complete columns (by selecting the column header rather than a range of cells within it) or complete sheets. Indeed, you need to use Paste Special and to remove the tick from Formats to avoid this. If you paste only part of a column, the existing column width is preserved, but I guess that is what you would generally want to happen. If you are pasting into an empty column but want only part of the existing data to be copied, you could copy the entire column and then delete the unwanted material, of course.
I won't attempt to speak for Excel. I trust this helps. Brian Barker --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] For additional commands, e-mail: [email protected]
