Dear All,
I have OO 2.3 and 2.4 for Mac as well as an operating X11. Yesterday I upgraded to Leopard 10.5.6, and OO will not open. I have to force quit the program to get out of it again (it seems to be running in the background somewhere, but you cannot use it.)
Please advise.

I notice that no-one has replied to you yet, so I will try and help. From my studies in this forum there is a problem with the X11 that comes with 10.5.5 so it will not run OpenOffice. All the advice from the users of Mac has been to upgrade to OOo 3.0 as that does not need X11.

So I would recommend the upgrade to OOo 3.0. There will be a version 3.0.1 coming out in January but I would suspect that that is too late for you.

As a Mac user, I can confirm that. Generally speaking, upgrading to 3.0 is virtually a no brainer, as it has been a while since there has been serious development work on any X11 version anyway. If you need 2.4 for other reasons, the most recent version (2.4.2) should have been corrected for this issue. See http://blog.shaunmcdonald.me.uk/2008/03/ooo-possible-fix-for-the-command-timed-out-error-on-leopard/ .
