I reported this issue on this forum a while back - I think perhaps even prior to 20081209. Installing the 3.0 build from the repository as suggested by Drew resolved the problem - when I click my 3.0 Writer icon, I can still sometimes (the phenomenon is not consistent) get that strange «Untitled 1» file message, but OOo no longer crashes when I respond. And the latest OOo-dev (m37) opens with no problems at all - this on a box running 64-bit Ubuntu Intrepid.... Henri
