I have tried it and I can confirm the problem (OOo1.1.4):
With using of standard toolbar icon, the changes in the style NumberingX/ListX... doesn't apply:
- create list of items 1. first 2. another 3. etc.... - change something in Numbering1 (or the other style) - it doesn't cause any changes in previous (or in newly created) text Even, for the items created by this way, no numbering style is assigned (except of the default text style). Only if we select these items, and then double-click on the style name in the "Style list", this style will be applied. The other problem is, that if we have something like: 1. first point 2. second ...some other text and after that new items.... 1. another 2. next one 3. third one and after that change numbering style by items selecting and style name double-clicking (separately for the first points 1.,2. and then for the second paragraph with 1.,2.,3., of course) we can see continuous (!) numbering e.g.: 1) first point 2) second ...some other text.... 3) another 4) next one 5) third one even if there is "start from 1" option in style definition. It looks, that if we want to use simple numbering styles, we need an extra style for every one paragraph in the text... Even if the formating appearance is still the same - and it may be a little problem if you are writing e.g. a longer documentation, a manual or instruction steps, i.e. a heap of points. So the original Shoshannah's question is here again: ** Is there a way how to use/change style for the default, simple items numbering?
