I have a spreadsheet in OO Calc that I would like to send to someone who has MS
Office. What do I need to do?
You can:
1.) Use File → Save As... to save your spreadsheet. When the dialog box
appears, set “Save as Type:” to “Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP (.xls)”.
Make sure that “Automatic Filename Extension” is checked. Mostly Calc
spreadsheets convert perfectly, but occasionally there may be some
difference and sometimes the difference matters. You can check whether
there is a difference by downloading and install a free Microsoft Excel
viewer from
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/HA010449811033.aspx .
2.) Advise the recipient that they should download and install the Sun
ODF Plugin from http://www.sun.com/software/star/odf_plugin/index.jsp
which allows Microsoft Office to read and write OpenOffice.org files.
