Currently, to the best of my knowledge, that is not possible. There is
an open issue to make it possible and I suppose it will happen.

Do you mind if I ask you why that bothers you however.

It does not take away anything - you can work with the application in
every single way as you did with it before the "start center" was
added so what is it that bothers you about it?

I find it inefficient to go that route also; it shouldn't be necessary and is not necessary. Instead of opening OO.o that way, find the component files swriter.exe, calc.exe, and so on, and simply make new shortcuts to those. Then when you click the writer shortcut icon, it'll start Writer directly, without the initial menu page to go through.

They are all listed in start; Programs listing under Open Office 3.0. Just rightclick swriter or whatever, and and choose "create shortcut on desktop" for each one you want. Or, continue to use the Start; Programs list if you prefer. I like the shortcuts better.
