The download/install process goes like this: 1. Download the initial installer to a folder of your choice, often the desktop. 2. Run this initial installer. It will create a folder (you choose its name and location - typically the desktop again or a "temp" folder) and will then put a lot of stuff into that folder by "unpacking" itself. 3. Within all that "stuff" is the actual setup program which should run automagically. Among other things it will ask you where you want the software installed, typically c:\program files\OpenOffice ... Once step 3 has been completed you can happily delete everything created by steps 1 and 2. If you want to give the software to others - perfectly legitimate - give them the initial installer you downloaded; copy it onto a CD for example.
