When printing off excel spreadsheets it has a feature which will fit the spreadsheet to the page size. I've made several attempts with Open office Calc to no avail. Obviously I am missing a command somewhere if Open Office Calc is a clone to MS Office Excel.

The main thing you are missing is that OpenOffice Calc is not a clone of Microsoft Excel.

Sincerely hope someone can steer me in the right direction.

Probably:
o Go to Format | Page... | Sheet | Scale.
o Under "Scaling mode", try "Fit print range(s) to width/height".
o In the boxes on the right, select the number of pages into which you want to fit the material.

If necessary, you can fit part of a spreadsheet into a chosen number of pages. To do this, first set a print range:
o Select the required cells.
o Go to Format | Print Ranges > | Define.
o Continue as above.

I trust this helps.
