I brought an image into Draw with the purpose of labeling some of the objects within the image. I created text outside of the image, and I drew an arrow from the text to a place on the image that I wanted to point too. I have about 30 of these arrows to draw. The problem is when I try to move the arrow to the left, or to the right to just it on the object within the image that I want to point to, the arrow moves in steps of about an eighth of an inch to the left, or to the right. Sometimes it will go straight to where I wanted to go, but more often than not, it will not let me adjust it in increments small enough to place it where I want it.
There is a "snap to grid" facility in Draw, which is presumably causing this effect.
I really hope [...] that someone can explain to me how to avoid this problem.
To turn this off, go to Tools | Options... | OpenOffice.org Draw | Grid | Grid, and remove the tick from "Snap to grid".
