I'm finding a lot of stuff like this which was written for older OS'es.
Can but try them. Most of what works on Vista AND WS2003 works on
WS2008.

The most promising ones i have come across is *assoc* and *ftype* from
the command line. I'm a happy linux user so will be in my element.
