I removed it as you described, using the extension manager as is proper procedure for removing any of them. It is no longer in the list in extension manager, but not all of it has cleared the system as OpenOffice still complains on first start of the day that it tried to start TextClip and ran into problems. I keep clearing the cache and it is back the next day.
