Lately the message I get is only:

========================
Checking for an update failed.
========================

I may resort to downloading it from the website. I think, however, that there is a simple solution to the volume of update requests: They should give priority to those who have older versions to update. The result will be that the automatic updates will skip 1 or 2 updates, but they will get updated eventually nonetheless. Skipping 1 update would mean the volume would be cut by half, and skipping 2 updates it would be reduced to 1/3. And personally I would prefer to have less frequent rather than more frequent updates, as long as I know that my time will come.
