Well, it is possible to customize that dialog box, but as far as I know
this is only true if you are opening it via a script.
HOWEVER - you could opt to use the Windows supplied file open/save
dialog boxes, in place of the OO.o supplied ones.
From any OO.o window select:
Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org > General
On this dialog remove the tick mark from the item:
Open/Save dialogs
Use OpenOffice.org dialogs.
That will do it for you.
