I successfully created a reference to page 8 on page 8. Then on page 5 I created a cross reference to the reference on page 8. And the cross reference now says "see page <8>," where the <8> is a field (grayed). So far, so good.
This works just peachy except that the first four pages of the document are front matter and are not numbered. I created a new section at the end of page four and added headers with the page numbers starting on page 5 with an offset of -4. The page number on physical page 5 says "page 1." So when the user is on page 1 and sees the reference to page 8 the user will go to page 8 and not find the material. The material is on the page that is numbered 4 (physical page 8). I can't figure out how to create an offset for the reference.
