Sorry, but that was precisely my point: you simply cannot believe, I
suggest, that millions of OpenOffice users haven't needed to do
exactly this - and often. Nothing crazy about it!
And yes: copying from a very structured document such as a web site
is precisely where you will see just the sort of problem you
describe. And if - as you say here - it is the *text* of the web
page (rather than its structure) you need to paste, then Paste
Special is certainly the way to go.
Incidentally, I now see I was not on the ball in my previous reply
and omitted an important detail. When you use Paste Special in this
way, you then need to select "Unformatted text" from the available
options to get the effect you need. Sorry about that omission.
