I have an HP Laserjet 4M and an HP Laserjet 5P both working, and they have been doing well for at least five years. They still print. In n OpenOffice writer document with a table and local phone numbers, where I had, years ago, set the page format to Landscape, and 0.3in border around the entire page. This worked perfectly - until this morning. It refused to print the border all the way around (on both printers), and I now have to have page format set to 0.65in left and 0.40in for the other borders. The paper is US letter (8.5in by 11.0in), and the drivers are the recommended foomatic drivers - no recent changes there. And printing a test page via Yast works perfectly. On the HP 4M, the test page borders are no greater than 0.25in, with about 0.33in on the HP OO5P.
This is on an openSUSE 11.1 system. It worked fine yesterday on other documents with 0.30in. By the way, even though the printers have NO problem with a 0.30in border, OO has always complained about it being outside of the printable area (total BS). There are ink jet printers that do full edge to edge printing that their compaint about the printer being incapable is garbage! There has not been an update done on the computer I use to print it from (openSUSE 11.1) since last week, and I have done other printing with no problems. Kate (a text editor), when set to 0.300in borders does have a minor portion on the left eclipsed. With 0.333in it prints fine. The problem is probably in OpenOffice (3.0.0 OOO300m21 Build:9319) Novell version Build 3.0.0.9, but the last update was before the last couple of days. The document I printed yesterday, with a 0.30in border, I just printed (no changes!) and it is sans border.
