To add a bit to Larry's reply:

The US-English Intel version is OOo_2.1.0rc2_20061130_MacOSXIntel_install_en-US.dmg, roughly 20 down the page. US-English PPC version is OOo_2.1.0rc2_20061130_MacOSXPPC_install_en-US.dmg, roughly halfway down.

As you've discovered, the main site doesn't tell you any of this -- it just blithely sends you the latest version it has for OSX. (Been exactly where you are myself -- my sympathies.) I've alerted the webmasters, but perhaps another complaint from you would help: [email protected]

Your copy of X11 is probably fine but, if not, post again. (Good luck if you try to follow the instructions for preventing it from opening its window, though. I was never able to get that working.)

If/when you upgrade to 10.5, switch to OO 3.1. It's better and doesn't use that annoying X11.

I've loaded Open Office 2.4.0 to my iMac with OS 10.3.9

I'm attempting to open some .odt files that are merely address labels.

Everytime I open one of the files, Open Office launches - then crashes. X11 is still on though. Do I need to install the X11 file from my original Mac provided software install CD? Where exactly might that file be?
