and if automatic, one has to have heuristics to decide what to
include. And an automatic index would have to have some words
the author would prefer were in the index and conversely.
Well, you have to give the "heuristics", in the form of
concordance file, which basically list of words you want to be
included in the index. You can slowly build the concordance file
using the manual tagging above, or create it from scratch. The
format of concordance file is in the help file (just look for
concordance), but this site have it from OOo 2.1:
