I'm wondering whether there has been some system-wide decision in
OpenOffice v3.xx to remove support for the R1C1 formula schema in
spreadsheets? Two things prompting this question:
i) in v3, the Format::Sheet::Use R1C1 option has disappeared (the
Novell oo-build project has re-implemented it more globally in the
OpenOffice Calc::Calculate prefs pane in their OpenOffice v3 builds)
ii) in v3, the MS Excel 03 XML import/export functionality has been
broken (it worked beautifully in v2.xx) because OpenOffice is now
using its own ODFF [.a1] schema instead of the R1C1 schema that Excel
XML requires. So you use the MS Excel 03 XML option when exporting a
doc, but the resultant XML file is unreadable by MS Excel 03/04/07/08.
And Excel 03 XML docs do not import properly into Calc if they contain
cell references in their formulae.
