Eustace, you might want to consider posting a link to a screenshot, so
that we can see what you see....

The top bar is wide enough to contain in it an invisible Full Screen button.
Thanks. I could reproduce your situation with the vanished 'Full
Screen button' ...
Oops ... vanished in the hay ...
Please close OOo (+ quickstarter) and rename these files in your user
directory ->
(1) <WriterWindowState.xcu> to <WriterWindowState.xcu.old>
Path: <...\OpenOffice.org\3\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office\UI\...>
(2) <Views.xcu> to <Views.xcu.old>
Path: <...\OpenOffice.org\3\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office\...>
Restart OOo (maybe you'll lose some recent settings).
I hope this will restore the 'Full Screen button'.
[Done with: Writer / OOo 3.1 RC1 / Windows]

I also renamed CalcWindowState.xcu, since the problem was the same with
Calc too. Now everything is as it should be. Thanks. But it would be
better if it were not possible for this problem to happen in the first
place...
