The answer is that openOffice and MS Office can work together on the
same machine. The install files are available from www.openoffice.org
If you have a dial-up connection then you may wish to consider obtaining
a copy of openoffice from a computer magazine or from one of the
suppliers of CD/DVD listed on the openoffice site.
when you have the install file, then run it and it will give you the
choice of opening MS Office files with OpenOffice or not. You must make
your own decision about that.
