Cannot password protect .xls files using Calc.?
Furthermore, password protected files opened with Calc appear to be
read-only. I deal with sensitive (HR) data and regularly need to
password protect files being sent by email.
You should use the generic ods-format. Then your files will be encrypted
with blowfish. If you choose a good password the files are very secure.
As far as i am informed the microsoft formats don't encrypt at all.
