Is it possible to have the spacing above and below paragraphs collapse like
CSS margins? That way one wouldn't have to customize styles that much just

Take a look at Tools|Options|OpenOffice.org Writer|Compatibility
The 2nd from top ("add spacing between paragraphs and tables .." ) is
what helps you.
