I have been looking at the convert_add function in calc. It has
conversions for gallons, pints, fluid ounces, quarts and bushels which
are all the US variants of these units. There is no mention in the
help files that US gallons, for example, are what the 'gal' term
refers to in the formula. There is no way of using convert_add to
convert imperial units to anything else.
This seems a sad lack and is also misleading as people trying to use
the function are not warned that they are getting results from US
units
I have attached a calc file showing some of the discrepancies I noticed.
It would be good to at least clarify which units are in use, in the
help files, but it would be even better to add imperial units to the
function (even though it would no longer relate to the excel version
of convert)
Also rather confusingly the help files imply that convert rather than
convert_add should yield conversions based on ISO standards rather
than excel. This is not the case as convert is for currency
conversion.
