[users] Importing old Microsoft Word for Mac 5.1 files

Greetings:

    I recently bought a new MacBook5,2 with Mac OS X 10.5.7 (9J61).   
I have a group of old Microsoft Word for Mac 5.1 files from an old Mac  
8500 with Mac 8.6 on it.  I wish to use OpenOffice 3.1.0  to import  
these files.  Is there a way to import old Mac Microsoft Word files  
using OpenOffice 3.1.0?
