First, you didn't have to purchase OpenOffice.org, as it's a free
download from www.openoffice.org.

As for creating a PDF file, there are 3 different methods.

1) There is an "Export Directly as PDF" button on the task bar.
2) Click on File > Export as PDF.  This will give you more options than
the task bar icon.
3) Click on File > Send > E-mail as PDF.  This will open up a new e-mail
messages, with the PDF attached.

Use any of these methods as desired.
