It is the current thread where you are contributing as well (sub. PDF

Perhaps because in Linux a non-PDF file can have a 'pdf' extension
(unlike in Winodws where extenions matter(?)) without any problems. And
also, a PDF file need not have only pdf as an extension. Example:
$> file tosites.pdf  <- this is a PDF file
tosites.pdf: PDF document, version 1.4
$> mv tosites.pdf tosites.pl  <- extension changed
$> file tosites.pl
tosites.pl: PDF document, version 1.4  <- still a PDF file
$> touch delme.pdf  <- extension is pdf but file is not ...
$> file delme.pdf
delme.pdf: empty  <- ... true!

So, the extension is useful to a human to guess the file type, but is
not necessary for the computer.


Other than that, I do not know why scribus would list pdf files. I think
you should take this to scribus mailing list for better info.
