I need to frequently add background color for cells and I was wondering if who has keyboard shortcuts for doing this job. I also need keyboard shortcuts for getting text bold, italics, etc. It would be great if who can point to a list of openoffice shortcuts for this kind of tasks.

One facility that you might find useful in this context is the Format Paintbrush.
o Format one cell as required.
o With that cell selected, click the Format Paintbrush button in the Standard toolbar.
o Click another cell (or drag across a range) to format it the same way.

If you have more than one cell or range to format the same way, double-click the Format Paintbrush button instead. You can then format cells or ranges as required. When you have finished, cancel the paintbrush effect either by clicking the Format Paintbrush button (once) again or by pressing Esc.

I trust this helps.
